Microsoft launches a new crypto wallet

PLUS - DefiLlama forked by one of its employees

GM, this is The Crypto Xplorer, we're here to satisfy your curiosity and explore the depths of the crypto universe!

Here's what we got for you today:

  • Microsoft Edge Testing Built-In Ethereum Crypto Wallet

  • DefiLlama forked as internal dispute unfolds

Microsoft Enters The Crypto Game with Their Own Non-Custodial Web3 Wallet!

They're working on an Ethereum-based Web3 wallet for their Edge browser.

The wallet is non-custodial, which means you'll be in total control of your funds, and the tech giant will not have access to their passwords or recovery keys.

So you won't have to worry about Microsoft getting its hands on your precious crypto.

Well, I guess they've realized they were missing out on all those sweet, sweet profits MetaMask made from token swap fees. (MetaMask was making between $85,000 - $220,000 daily in token swap fees during the bull market).

Sadly, we're in the bear market now… But hey, better late than never, right?

Microsoft has partnered with Consensys to make a swap feature available, so you can easily trade your ETH, DAI, UNI, USDC, and USDT.

But here's the kicker:

They're asking testers to put up their own assets and provide feedback.

Overall, this is a big move for Microsoft, as it allows users to easily send and receive crypto without having to install additional extensions or apps.

Maybe they'll even start accepting crypto for their products soon. Who knows? The possibilities are endless!

DefiLlama Forked By One Of Its Employees

Well, it seems like the crypto drama never ends!

DefiLlama has been forked by some of its employees after a dispute over plans to launch a token.

A pseudonymous developer at DefiLlama, 0xngmi, accused the founders of DefiLlama of launching a token without employee support and said that the company was “undergoing a hostile takeover”.

According to 0xngmi, the team will be starting afresh on llama.fi.

The DefiLlama team is forking Defillama@Defillama is undergoing a hostile takeoverThere is an ongoing attempt to launch a token that does not represent us. We don't want to be associated with itUse https://t.co/G0h4uBo2mL and @llamadotfi instead!

— 0xngmi (llamazip arc) (@0xngmi) March 19, 2023

However, Llama Corp. is accusing 0xngmi and other team members have gone rogue and trying to seize DefiLlama's intellectual property and community, while falsely claiming a hostile takeover.

It's like the corporate version of a "he said, she said" argument.

In any case, some people seem to still support the original founders, Charlie Watkins and Ben Hauser. Here's what DeFi architect and Yearn.finance founder Andre Cronje said:

Within 24 hours, 0xngmi tweeted that everything has been resolved, while DefiLlama apologized for the unpleasant event

As to what really happened, that will continue to remain a misery to many of us.
