SBF's new bail restrictions

PLUS: Tether accused of using fake documents to access banking system

GM, this is the Crypto Xplorer. Let's face it, trying to keep up with crypto is like catching a greased-up pig.

Let’s do the chasing for you!

Here's what we got for you today:

  • SBF faces new strict bail conditions

  • Tether in hot water again for alleged shady banking practices

  • CZ denies the rumor widely spread on China's WeChat

SBF's New Bail Restrictions: No Smartphones, No VPNs

So, it looks like the former FTX CEO, Sam Bankman-Fried, is in hot water with the Department of Justice.

They've proposed some new bail conditions for him, and let's just say they're not exactly phone-friendly. 🤣

He's not allowed to use smartphones, tablets, computers, or any video game platforms that let him communicate with people. Instead, he'll have to stick to an old-school flip phone with no internet capabilities (or an internet-disabled smartphone).

He’s banned from talking to current or former employees of FTX or Alameda Research, except when his lawyers are around.

Oh, and no VPNs or encrypted messaging apps either. Did I mention he was caught watching the super bowl? (I mean, of all the things he could have been doing… the super bowl, I can’t believe this guy! 🤣).

On the flip side, he can visit a pre-approved list of websites, including YouTube, Wikipedia, Etherscan, NFL, Netflix, government websites, and crypto news websites.

However, the government will be logging his online activities.

Tether Accused Of Using Fake Documents To Access Banking System

Uh-oh, it looks like Tether is in trouble again!

The world's biggest stablecoin is facing accusations that its parent company used fake documents and shell companies to gain access to the banking system.

According to a report by WSJ, Tether used third parties with connections to a designated terrorist organization. If you're going to go to all that trouble, why not add a little excitement to the mix, right? 😂

But Tether denies all the allegations, so I guess we'll have to wait and see what the US Justice Department finds out.

In the meantime, if you're looking to enter and exit trades without using a traditional bank or fiat currency, you might want to consider using good old-fashioned bartering.

I’ll trade you my extra roll of toilet paper for some Bitcoin! 😂

CZ Denies Rumor of Being Shot By The FBI

Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao has denied rumors that he was "shot" by the FBI, which had spread widely on the Chinese messaging platform WeChat.

In a tweet, CZ clarified that the false speculation was just FUD and that he is alive and well.

He also emphasized Binance’s close working relationship with the FBI.

MetaMask security analyst Harry Denley likened the event to a false rumor about Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin “dying in a car crash” in 2017.

In other news, it looks like Binance is once again in hot water with US regulators, as three senators (Elizabeth Warren, Chris Van Hollen, and Roger Marshall) are demanding more information about their financials.

Looks like CZ might need to watch his back after all...but hey, at least he's not dead, right? 😬
